Get to know me...

I believe   it's important to get to know your Realtor beyond what's portrayed in the office. Put it this way; would you trust someone you don't know to handle one of the biggest financial transactions of your life? Probably not. And that's why I feel like it's important to create lasting relationships built on trust. To me, my clients aren't just clients, they're friends too! So, let's start here and get to know each other!

Let's go back to 2019. That's the year I moved to Bethel Island. And if you're familiar with this place, I know what you're thinking, but hear me out. It's a small town with a population of about two-thousand people. So, why is this even relevant? Because in small towns, everybody knows everybody. Which means, since 2019, this small place has given me so many new friendships! In a sense, it almost feels like one big family out here.

I like to stay connected with my community by getting involved with volunteer work, events, and fundraisers. I'm also a big fan of supporting small businesses, so I enjoy time spent at local places. I truly value the friendships I've made here, and   it means a lot to me knowing that people really do care about others.  And that's the point I'm trying to get across here when it comes to you. As a Realtor, I want to make that same kind of connection with you as I do with the people here in my town!

But my roots go beyond Bethel Island. I've been a lifelong resident of Contra Costa County. I was raised in Antioch, and I've lived in all of our neighboring cities throughout my life. With that being said, my familiarity and connections with the East Bay comes as a benefit to my clients. All the people I've met has established a network of connections which means I can help clients beyond just the sale or purchase of a home. I'm not a jack of all trades, but I do know a lot of jacks in the trades (so to speak)! So, if you needed help finding a lender, a repairman, a credit specialist, or anything in-between, I've got your back! Real estate should be a smooth process when you have the right agent representing you! My ability to help others reach their real estate goals is a passion of mine, and this is why I love what I do!

Before I became a Realtor,  I worked in the medical field. After high school, I enrolled myself into a technical college and became a Medical Assistant. I loved the feeling of helping people and taking care of them. After about 7 rewarding years of medical assisting, I realized although it was a great profession, it was not financially sustainable long term. So I decided to further my education by enrolling at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill.

I studied general education at DVC with an emphasis on mechanical engineering. So, lots of math! I really enjoyed problem solving, being creative, and learning new things! If we ever get to meet, ask me about the class final project I won! Aside from math and engineering, I also liked writing in my English classes. I've wrote several stories, and published one of my poems. Overall, being a student was incredibly gratifying as I truly enjoy learning!

After three years at DVC, I started manifesting business ideas that would fulfill my needs in a career and drive my ambition. I'm a "people's person," so the idea of sitting at a desk in an office all day long wasn't going to work for me. I knew I needed diversity and balance. I wanted to start a business that allowed me to work with people in and out of an office. Something I could be passionate about, keep me driven, and help others in big ways. Suddenly, I had an 'Ah-Ha!' moment and thought to myself, "what about real estate?"

When the idea of real estate came to me, my mind started going wild with the process of becoming a Realtor. For several months I researched the details of this career. I studied the data, crunched some numbers, and compared schools. So, I made the commitment and enrolled in school!

Real estate became my new obsession! I pushed myself hard and passed all my classes with flying colors! To be honest, I actually cried tears of joy, but that's between you and I! But then comes the actual hard part -- passing the State exam!

There's a lot of talk about how most people don't pass the test on the first try, and that raised some worries for me. So I over-prepped myself  because failing was not an option to me. I enrolled in two separate exam prep programs, and studied that for over a month.

The big day came quickly. My exam took place at the State of California Department of Real Estate in Oakland. I remember taking the test and thinking, "what the hell?" There were quite a few questions that weren't covered in my study materials which threw me off because I studied intensely from two different programs. My level of confidence was withering away. After finishing the three-hour exam and feeling a little discouraged, the proctor gives me a folded paper. I walked out of there, opened the letter, and it said "PASSED." I was overwhelmed with joy and pride! And yes, I did cry tears of joy! All my hard work paid off. It was a glorious day I'll never forget.

Fast forward a few weeks, and my mailbox is getting filled with letters from brokerages. So, in my usual fashion, I research the companies. I looked at their social media accounts and the content posted trying to see which brokerage would be a good fit. I interviewed a few Brokers and chose the one I felt would be the best fit for me.

Soon after, I jumped right into working in the real estate world doing a lot of open-house events and meeting so many new people! I learned that there's so much that goes on behind the scenes of this career than I could have ever imagined. My hands were full with studying legal documents, creating my own marketing materials, showing homes, meeting new clients, making this website, and the list goes on! But, with hard work -comes beautiful rewards...

My vision started to come to life. Each day has been rewarding knowing that I get to help people with one of their biggest decisions in life! Whether that's turning a renter into a proud homeowner, or helping homeowners sell their house for the best price!

As a homeowner myself, I know how it feels to go through the whole process. When I bought my first home, I had no idea how it all worked, I wasn't a Realtor at that time. Everything seemed like a blur to me. To be honest, the agent I worked with didn't walk me through the process very well, I felt confused most of the time. Looking back, I took my own experience as a lesson to make it a priority that my clients understand the steps and feel involved

My goal in real estate is to provide a first-class experience for buyers and sellers! I strive to make the process seamless and exciting for clients, while providing clarity by explaining the process step by step. My duty is to represent my clients with due diligence and the respect they deserve!

My future goal in real estate is to become a Broker and have a Brokerage of my own. I've enrolled myself back in college and I'm working towards a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. My plan is to get this degree to prepare myself for this goal of mine. After receiving this Bachelors degree, I plan on enrolling into another program to study for my Brokers license. After that, I will work on finally opening my own Brokerage! In the meantime, I will continue my journey being the best Realtor to the community and my clients!

In real estate, there are a lot of Realtors to choose from. Not all are the same. So, it's important to find the right agent who will cater to your needs and go the extra mile for you. And this is why I've created my business on a foundation of trust, loyalty, and providing service beyond the basics! That's what sets me apart from the rest. With me, you'll know that you have more than just a Realtor, you have a friend, too!

Thanks for taking a little time getting to know me! Hopefully, I'll get to meet you someday and get to know you, too! Cheers!

Sincerely,

Chanel Bottin
